A Seminole Canyon Shelter

This is one of the shelters in Seminole Canyon, Texas. The overhang was created by a combination of water and wind erosion during the formation of Seminole Canyon. The shelter dates back approximately 8,000 years and served as sleeping quarters, cooking and latrine. It also served as a cerimonial area. The pictographs were probably made during "trance states" in the cerimonies.
