Sipapu Bridge is the largest of the three
bridges in the National monument. It was formed by countless floods that shaped and
smoothed it with the rocks and sand they carried over thousands of years. |

The scale of these formations isn't
apparent until you start to close in on them. The dome of the United States Capitol
would almost fit into Sipapu. |

| It never ceases to amaze me what wind and water, over
time, can create. I can't imagine a sculptor creating something this majestic, with
such flowing shapes, on this scale, except "the hand of God". |

| In amongst the sere browns and grays are scattered stunning colors left
behind by different elements that were dissolved during the eons of water erosion. I'm
beginning to understand where Walt Disney got the idea for The Painted Desert.
